Hiking Agiassos, (Mt Olympos 968 m), Lesvos

We follow old trails in the Natura 2000 area. In the beginning the trail goes into fine chestnut forest which is one of the largest and most beautiful of islands in the Aegean Sea. Along the track we often get nice photo views on Mt. Olympos and on higher levels the nature changing and finally, we stand on the top of Mt. Olympos with some great panoramic views. The mountain itself is described as a tectonic window for geologists and has a characteristic form.

Lenght: 8.5 km. (linear/circular).

Level difference: 558 m. (410/968 m).

Level of difficulty: Medium. We walk on dirt Roads, nature path and kalderimi.

Experience: Natura 2000 area. Chestnut trees, walnut, pine forest, wild fruit trees and various oak varieties, wild flowers as orchids. Nice views with panoramic views.
