The village of Archanes and Mount Giouchta, central Crete

The village of Archanes is a traditional village that is considered one of Crete's oldest. Mount Giouchta was sacred from Minoan times to Roman times. According to myth, the king of the gods, Zeus, is buried in the mountain, and a temple for the cult worship of Zeus was located on the top of the mountain. In addition to the myths and history, it is a scenic hiking trip with plenty of vultures and beautiful views up on the mountain. It is located just half an hour from Heraklion's city pulse.
