Magical Midsummer Hiking

You arrive at the Mytillini airport on Lesvos and gets picked up in a minibus for transport to Mollyvoys and check-in at Hotel Triena (hotel not quite clear). We have a short walk-through in preparation for the week and evenings are free.
Fri 23/6 Midsummer eve
Sun and bath and midsummer celebrations in Molyvoys and free time to explore this nice place.
Sat 24/6
We hope everyone has a little Midsummer night's sleep and eats some breakfast in the morning for 9 am we gather outside the hotel and take the bus to Skala Skamnia, about 30 minutes away. We travel on bus there to see the small port and maybe buy a coffee before we depart on ther coastal hike. We also inform you on the terrible refugee disaster that this coast suffered the year before when all rubberboats gushed with refugees from Turkey. The route is 14 km so we approximate 6 hours with lunch and more photostop.We reach Efthalou after about 10 km,which is a popular seaside resort with spas and hot springs.
After just over 13 km we reach the castle of Molyvos. The Castle as it stands today is nicely refurbished and from the 1400 's, but the history goes much further back. The location is strategically . You can then wander around as desired.

Sun 25/6
After breakfast and maybe a morning swim, we gather at 9:30 a.m.outside the hotel. We travel the short distance to Petra, where we start today's hike.
Distance 8-9 km so we approximate 4-5 hours.
The trail begins just outside of Petra and goes through the gravel and partially paved roads to a small chapel St Fotia. This is a great place for a short stop, and there are also information boards about the old and abandoned water mills and hiking trails. The water mills located in a ravine called Ligona is a piece of history that shows how to be abundant water from the source, and led the water to 18 water mills in the area. The trail continues with fine views over the Ligona Gorge and one can see how the lava from the volcano and the water from the source made the landscape for thousands of years. We do lunch and fotos top for directions.
We go further away to the mountain village of Petri with magnificent views of the Petra village by the sea. The mountain is not influenced by tourism, so there will be a quaint and authentic stroll through the alleys of Petri. From Petri we walk on trails to finally be back on startup outside of Petra.
The trail we assess as medium 3/5. Substrate varies with bad dirt roads, paved roads, (Calderoni), as well as trails with different surfaces. Short pieces is a little steeper and very stony.
We recommend hiking boots or a pair of comfortable walking shoes.

We are checking out after breakfast and can take a morning swim before we head back to Mytillini for check-in at Hotel Heliotrope.
This day is FREE but we offer free of charge for those who wish information calls and stories about dogs on the island and adoption opportunities. Volunteer work, refugee crisis on Lesvos and the situation has been and is.
Tue 27/6
We eat breakfast and meet at 9:30 a.m. outside the hotel for a short trip to the Mytillini Centre. We start our walk at the statue of liberty in the harbor. This walk is 3 km so we approximate 2 hours. About half of the time is devoted to the Castle of Mytilene (which is one of the Mediterranean's largest) and the other half to the city where you get to see some historical sites from about 500 b.c.to the more modern southern port. The substrate is the streets of asphalt and cobblestone, so regular sneakers work well.
Time will be provided for lunch on your own and look a bit in the shops before we gather at 2.30 pm to travel a few kilometres to Olive woodhouse. (available on Tripadvisor) We will get to see the amazing craftsmanship produced while having the possibility to buy a nice gift with home. When we are ready we head back to the hotel at 7 pm we are back in place outside your hotel to take you to the restaurant TIGANAKIA. We would like to invite you to a farewell dinner, and for those who wish to see since the opportunity for transportation back to the hotel.
